Can I pause the engagement for a short period?
Yes, but only by exception. Pauses are capped at 30 days, the resource may not be held during the pause, and the Project must resume promptly to avoid discontinuation.
Temporary pauses are possible but exceptional. The rules:
- Maximum duration of 30 calendar days, unless otherwise agreed in writing
- We're not required to hold or maintain the same resource during the pause
- If we don't hear back to resume within 7 days after the pause expires, the Project may be treated as discontinued, with the Discontinuation Fee applying
- On resumption, you need to confirm intent and schedule at least one interview or candidate review within 30 days
By the way, if your situation has changed for longer than 30 days, restructuring the engagement is usually a better path than pausing. Talk to your account manager
